Epson printers are designed with a built-in “waste ink pad.” Over time, ink residue that is purged during cleaning cycles accumulates in a sponge at the bottom of the printer. The printer tracks this volume using a counter. Once the counter reaches a certain level (usually around 15,000 to 20,000 pages, depending on usage), the printer —showing an error code like "0x9A" or "Service Required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life."
