This paper posits that Malayalam cinema serves as a cultural barometer, tracking the state's transition from a feudal society to a modern, globalized entity. Through an analysis of distinct cinematic eras, this paper demonstrates how the medium has influenced—and been influenced by—the cultural identity of the Malayali people.
