While SRB2 is primarily a 2D sprite-based game, Modern Sonic is often played with 3D model packs enabled (via OpenGL). The v6 character WAD is designed to look excellent in both the standard software rendering and OpenGL, though the "Modern" feel is best experienced with the 3D model addons often bundled with the character.
