The film picks up where Thor: The Dark World left off, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) struggling to protect Asgard from the impending doom of Ragnarok. The goddess of death, Hela (Cate Blanchett), returns to Asgard, seeking revenge and destruction. Meanwhile, Thor finds himself imprisoned on the planet Sakaar, ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). There, he befriends the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and together they form an unlikely alliance to stop Hela and prevent the destruction of Asgard.
